Daliya is very common and famous breakfast in northern india.
Since childhood I am having daliya as breakfast almost thrice a week and it was one of my favourites. It is still indeed. I remember my mom use to cook and keep in fridge the sweeter version and whenever we wud be hungry we would just take half a bowl filled with daliya, pour hot or cold milk over it and enjoy our ready to eat mini meal. My mom was a great cook. 😚😍
1/2 cup Daliya (Broken Wheat ) – roasted
1 carrot – finely chopped
1/4 cup finely chopped beans
1/4 cup chopped capsicum
1/4 cup corns
1 chopped onion
1 tbsp finely chopped green chili
1/4 tsp jeera
Turmeric pinch (optional)
salt to taste
2 tsp oil
Red chilly powder
1 tbsp chopped coriander
Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan or kadhai. Temper jeera and add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute a while.
Add chopped vegetables and Cook for 2 mins on low flame. Add roasted daliya. Saute for about 5 mins. If Dalia is not pre roasted saute little more here and it will be done.
Add salt, red chilly powder and turmeric.mix.
Add water and cook covered till done. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
You can also pressure cook daliya along with other ingredients for 2-3 whistles. Adjust the amount of water and cook it.
